The Right Way to Wash Your Face
From the age of about 35 our skin begins to be more prone to dryness and its bounciness continues to deplete as we age. The collagen and elastic production, as well as everything else that would make it feel plump and firm starts to work less and less as we get older. We shouldn’t be tugging and pulling at our skin at all when applying makeup or skincare products. We need to take a more gentle approach. The same goes with the cleansers and exfoliants we use.
Don’t use harsh foaming or scrubbing cleansers. Instead opt for cream, gel, mousse or oil-based pre-cleansers. Avoid face scrubs altogether as they damage the skin and they don’t reach deep enough to clean the secondary skin layer where all the bacteria lies anyway. Instead choose a chemical exfoliant – AHA/ BHAs exfoliants – which are far less abrasive and much more thorough at penetrating the skin on a deep level.
How often should we be washing our face? Morning and evening. You can either use a makeup remover in the evening and then a face cleanser, or just double cleanse.
