What is a Preferred Provider And Why We Aren’t One?
Good dentistry isn’t cheap and cheap dentistry isn’t good!
Patients often ask what a ‘Preferred Provider’ is?
Firstly, It does not refer to the quality of the dentist and it isn’t an acknowledgment of this by the insurer. It is simply a financial agreement benefitting both the dentist and the insurer.
The dentists are contracted to the private health insurance company to offer a set fee for services and in turn the fund will ‘recommend’ them to their policyholders. This means the insurance company pay less benefits out to their customers and the dentist is referred more patients.
Unfortunately, some private health funds actually own the dental practices they recommend creating a conflict of interest and care. Holding power over their customers health whilst making money every step of the way.
What are the benefits of NOT being a ‘preferred provider’?
We put our patients and quality of care we provide to them, as our priority.
Your health should not be used for profit or influenced by a big insurance company putting pressure on dentists to meet financial targets.
We like to treat our patients like we would our own family. Only the best treatment and care. That means our treatment isn’t ‘gap free’ but it doesn’t mean its expensive either. Our prices are guided by the Australian Dentist Association average fee report.
We only use the highest quality products and techniques and all of our lab work is hand crafted locally in Melbourne, supporting local small business.
We want our patients to know they are our number one priority and not just a number.
Alternatively we invite to book for a consultation with our friendly dentist 🙂
