so, what are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are a cosmetic solution that can dramatically enhance the aesthetics of your smile. They are thin, custom-made shells designed to cover the front surface of teeth. Made from porcelain (as the name suggests), these veneers are crafted to mimic the natural appearance of teeth. They are used to improve the appearance of your smile by addressing a variety of dental concerns, such as discoloured, chipped, misshapen, crooked, gappy, gummy or worn down teeth.

Veneers are bonded to the front of the teeth, changing the colour, shape, size, length or alignment. They are popular because they provide a lifelike tooth appearance, and porcelain is stain-resistant and mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural teeth.

Veneers are not a fast fix to a challenging dental aesthetic: they represent a carefully-considered and personalised experience, beginning with your initial consultation with us.

As someone who experienced anxiety when it came to dental visits, Rita and her team within the past 2 years have done so much more than just providing dental care to me and my little ones. The team is very attentive and always goes beyond to make us feel comfortable all the time. My children always look forward to their dentist appointments and enjoy it every single time. Thank you!

Scared of the dentist? You no longer have to fear your visit... Dr Rita is a highly skilled and friendly cosmetic dentist whose gentle approach and thoroughness make her an excellent choice for anyone seeking dental care. Dr Rita and her team invest their time in each patient to ensure that your oral health is prioritised along side any cosmetic adjustments you might want. They even assist with finance so that no one goes without the dental care they need. The clinic itself is less like your standard dentist clinic, but instead more like something you would see in Vogue Living. With warm, soft tones throughout the floor, you are greeted by a friendly and welcoming face at reception, and always asked if you'd like a coffee or tea! I have been to the Skin and Dental Clinic on only two occasions so far and they already feel like family. I could not recommend them more highly. Dr Rita will get to the root of the problem, I promise you.

I love dental and skin! I have a number of issues with my teeth and I’ve always found going to the dentist very nerve wracking and have found it hard to find a dentist who is compassionate. I needed a lot of dental work done and I couldn’t be more happy with my experience at Dental and Skin. The team at Dental and Skin are so wonderful, professional and helpful. Could not recommend more!
The staff were so friendly at the clinic and even had a Netflix tv in the teeth whitening room. Overall it was a lovely experience 🙂

What do porcelain veneers address?

Porcelain veneers are a highly sought-after cosmetic dental treatment known for their ability to transform smiles. Crafted from high-quality porcelain, these thin shells are custom-made to fit snugly over the front of your teeth to provide a long-lasting and aesthetically-pleasing solution. Renowned for their durability and lifelike appearance, porcelain veneers are an excellent choice for those looking to enhance their smile.

Many individuals choose to get porcelain veneers to address the following cosmetic concerns:

Discolouration of teeth:

An excellent and permanent solution for masking stains and severe discolouration caused by old fillings, ageing, antibiotics, fluorosis or a culmination of years of coffee drinking.

Chips, cracks and minor breakage:

Effectively conceal minor chips or cracks in teeth, enhancing their overall look and add a layer of protection for the teeth.

Gaps between teeth:

Veneers can be used to close small and big gaps between teeth, offering a cosmetic alternative to orthodontics.

Misalignment and shape issues:

Veneers can give the illusion of a more uniform, balanced smile by covering mild misalignments or irregularly shaped teeth, without altering their actual position and bypassing the need for orthodontics.

Worn down teeth:

For teeth eroded by bruxism (teeth grinding) or natural wear and tear, veneers offer a way to restore the lost volume and rejuvenate the shape.

Uneven teeth:

Veneers can balance the look of uneven teeth, whether due to grinding, general wear, or natural irregularities.

Fix a gummy smile:

Veneers can balance out uneven gums and correct a smile that is showing too much of the gums.

“I am SO pleased that I took this journey with Dr Rita Trak at Dental + Skin Clinic. Not only is the clinic a calm and comfortable environment to be in, the staff and Dr Trak put me completely at ease.”

Discreet affordable veneers in Melbourne

Give yourself permission to smile

Our goal is to improve your overall look with a new smile – without changing who you are. We’re in the business of being discreet, which means nobody will know you’ve had veneers unless you say so. We’re incredibly proud of our ability to design smiles that match our clients’ faces naturally. Our lips may be sealed, but we have no doubt yours will be revealing your new smile to the world.

Types of veneers

There are several types of veneers we offer, but the most popular to consider are porcelain and composite veneers.

What are composite veneers?

Composite veneers are a type of dental veneer made from composite resin, the same material used in tooth-coloured dental fillings. Unlike porcelain veneers, which are manufactured in a lab and then bonded to the teeth, composites are usually sculpted directly onto the teeth by the dentist, usually in a single appointment.

While they may appear cost-effective in the short-term, composites are porous by nature and are prone to staining, chipping, and discolouration. Their longevity is usually 3 to 5 years, in which time they’ll need to be regularly fixed. This is where the costs of composite veneers add up.

What are porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells of medical-grade ceramic that are attached to the front surfaces of teeth for a smile transformation. They are custom-made for each patient and are used to recreate the natural look of teeth, while also providing strength and resilience comparable to natural tooth enamel. With so much time and effort going into the production of porcelain veneers, the cost is considerably higher than that of composite veneers.

What's the difference between porcelain and composite veneers?

The main differences between porcelain and composite veneers is their material, cost, and durability.

Porcelain veneers are made from high-quality, durable ceramic and are known for their long-lasting and natural appearance, making them one of the best veneers options. They are more resistant to stains and chips, but also tend to be more expensive due to their intricate fabrication process and longevity.

On the other hand, composites are made from a resin material, which is less costly and can often be applied in a single visit. While they offer a quicker and more affordable solution, composites may not have the same durability as porcelain and are more prone to staining, requiring replacement or maintenance more frequently.

When choosing between the two, it’s important to consider these factors along with the expertise of a veneers experts to ensure the best outcome for your smile.

What to expect: the veneers process

If you’re feeling uncertain about your first consultation for porcelain veneers, rest assured that you’re taking a positive step towards enhancing your smile. Our team will guide you through every step, ensuring you feel comfortable and informed throughout the whole treatment. We’ll discuss your expectations, answer any questions, and outline the process in a way that’s clear and reassuring. Remember, this journey is about creating a smile that reflects your true self – and we’re excited to help you realise this.

Our unique five-step poorcelain veneers process is as follows:

We’re committed to making you feel comfortable throughout your entire smile journey. We’ll answer any questions you might have, and outline the process in a way that’s clear to you. At the end of the day, we’re all about creating a smile that you’ll be proud to show off.

Our unique five-step veneers process is as follows:

In this initial consultation, you’ll meet with Dr. Rita and discuss the elements of your smile you wish to improve. You’ll express your ideal smile aspirations, and Dr. Rita will offer personalised recommendations to meet those objectives. This process involves an in-depth analysis of your facial structure and extends to the smile and teeth, ensuring your unique and personal characteristics are captured.

Dr. Rita carefully sculpts the shape required for your premium porcelain veneers and takes moulds of your teeth. Following this, a set of beautiful temporary veneers will be fitted, which you will wear for three weeks. These have a similar size and shape to your final veneers but are crafted from acrylic, making them more delicate.

3. FEEDBACK - 30m

During this appointment, adjustments to the temporary teeth can be swiftly made, enabling you to instantly see the changes. The final porcelain veneers will be designed based on the adjusted temporary veneers’ final appearance.

After this time, our expert dental technicians will be diligently handcrafting your new veneers with precision and care.

In this appointment, we’ll remove your temporary veneers and fit your new, beautiful porcelain veneers using temporary adhesive. This allows us to assess the shape and colour. We invite you to closely examine your new smile in the mirror and take selfies to appreciate the transformation. Feel free to bring along a friend or family member for support if it helps you feel more at ease!

If you’re thrilled with your new smile and give the go-ahead, we move forward to firmly attach the veneers, marking an exciting milestone! But, if there’s any aspect you or Dr. Rita aren’t entirely happy with, we can perform minor tweaks right there and then. In the event that significant changes are needed, we’ll craft new veneers and fit you with a fresh set of temporary teeth in the meantime.

Three weeks following the placement of your veneers, Dr. Rita will perform a check-up to carry out any required adjustments. You’ll also receive an Aftercare Guard from us. To maintain the longevity of your porcelain veneers, we recommend booking hygiene appointments with Dr. Rita every six months. These sessions will include comprehensive evaluations and cleanings. Regular oral hygiene is one of the best methods to maintain the health of both your veneers and gum.

Dental + Skin offers customers a Smile Now & Pay-Over-Time option for dental veneers, meaning you can get the smile of your dreams while minimising the upfront payment. We have also partnered with Afterpay, Access my Super, Supercare, Humm and HICAPS to help you achieve your dream smile without financial burden.

Because veneers are such a versatile treatment solution that can address almost every cosmetic concern, almost everyone can get veneers. However, there are some restrictions: you need to be older than 21 years of age and practise good oral hygiene as the bare minimum.

At the end of the day, if you’re unhappy with your smile, then we’re here to help. There’s no better investment you can make than into your smile. It’s one that will gain you returns each and every day. Whether you want to change the shape, colour, shape or size of your teeth, our porcelain veneers in Melbourne are the ideal solution.

One of the first questions our clients want to know is: How much do veneers cost in Melbourne?

The cost of veneers in Melbourne ranges quite a bit, depending on the type of veneers: composite or porcelain.

  • The cost of composite veneers in Melbourne ranges between $200-$1000.
  • The cost of porcelain veneers in Melbourne ranges between $1900-$2000.

It comes down to the following:

  • material: composite or porcelain
  • level of quality of material
  • how the veneers are made: hand-made or machine produced
  • who makes the veneers: an apprentice or a master ceramist
  • experience of the dentist: this doesn’t refer to the age of the dentist or how many years he or she has been a dentist but what percentage of work is actually veneers

At Dental & Skin Clinic our prices fall somewhere in the middle. We’re not the cheapest because that would mean compromising on the quality. We’re not the most expensive because you’re not paying for a brand.

An investment in your smile is one that will pay itself back in bucket loads over the years. The dental veneers cost in Melbourne, reflects both the labour-intensive process, and the quality of the porcelain material used.

The porcelain veneer cost should be looked at as an investment in your future. You can’t put a price on a winning smile.

  • The cost of composite veneers in Melbourne ranges between $200-$1000.
  • The cost of porcelain veneers in Melbourne ranges between $1900-$2000.

Each individual porcelain veneer is custom-made from your 3D scan in your chosen shade. No part of this process is automated, which is why the porcelain veneers price in Melbourne reflects the labour-intensive process.

On the hunt for a veneers specialist near me? Quality, experience and expert craftsmanship are key, which is why we are the superior choice for veneers in Melbourne.

Our porcelain veneers package in Melbourne will give you the best quality for the best price. You will leave grinning from ear to ear.

Our clients’ beautiful smiles speak for themselves. Check out the amazing smiles we have created in our Smile Gallery.

Getting your porcelain veneers done with a qualified professional at Dental + Skin Clinic, is that they last even longer. Sadly, they’re not immortal, but they are considered a permanent fixture.

Our superior porcelain veneers will last anywhere from 10 to 20 years. Like your natural teeth, you can expect to notice general wear and tear as time goes on, so you need to give them proper care to get the most out of them.

Our quality dental veneers will improve your smile and give you lasting confidence. While they don’t necessarily repair your existing teeth, they can help strengthen them. The porcelain can increase the overall strength of weakened enamel to make it less susceptible to breakage and damage.

Our quality dental veneers will improve your smile and give you lasting confidence. While they don’t necessarily repair your existing teeth, they can help strengthen them. The porcelain can increase the overall strength of weakened enamel to make it less susceptible to breakage and damage.

The process of applying veneers is irreversible. To fit veneers, a small amount of outer surface of enamel must be shaped to create room for the veneer.  Without this step, you run the risk of having thick and bulky veneers. This process alters the natural tooth structure, meaning that some form of veneer or dental covering will always be necessary once you have had veneers applied.

You need to avoid chewing your fingernails or biting into really hard foods such as grains as veneers don’t like to be flexed.

If you have major dental cover, then you should get something back from your private health insurance (typically between $250-$1500, depending on your level of cover).

You need to look after your veneers the same way you look after your own teeth: you’ll need to practise good oral hygiene at home, get your teeth professionally checked twice a year, and wear an Aftercare Guard when you go to bed.

The colour, shape, alignment, spacing and positioning are all fully customisable, ensuring you receive a natural, lifelike smile.

Porcelain veneers are the best cosmetic solution for individuals wanting a long-term and durable outcome. It is the best option to improve one or more issues about their teeth, including the colour, shape, straightness and/or fix any big gaps between their teeth. Porcelain veneers can also fix a gummy smile.

The first step involves getting a set of temporary veneers placed so that you can see what the new smile will look like and be able to make any amendments to it. Once you’re 100% happy with how the temporary veneers look, the next step is to copy the porcelain veneers based on how the temporary veneers look.

Resin veneers last from 6 months to about 3 years on average before they would need to get replaced.

Not all porcelain veneers are made equal! Where they are made, who they are made by and how the teeth are shaped all play a role on how much porcelain veneers vary.

Dental veneers offer several advantages, such as enhancing various aspects of your teeth like colour, shape, alignment, and closing significant gaps. They provide a quicker solution compared to orthodontics, are minimally invasive, and serve as a durable and long-lasting treatment.

We generally recommend 8-10 veneers as this is the number of teeth that are visible when we smile and speak. This allows for the most seamless and best cosmetic outcome. Anything less than that (6 or fewer) puts the smile at risk of looking too front-heavy.

No, you cannot whiten veneers. The only way to change the colour is to replace the veneers because their colour is permanent and does not really change over time.

Veneers last on average 10 to 15 to 20 years before one or more might need to get replaced.

Not all porcelain veneers are equal! Inferior products can be used to make the veneers, which is why you might see a cost variation across clinics. Just so you know, at Dental + Skin Clinic, we use the highest quality materials to craft our porcelain veneers.

People choose veneers to enhance the appearance of their teeth and achieve the specific look they desire for their smile.
